Donna is this weeks Trashy Crafter Fan of the…
Meet Candi Fannin, our Trashy Crafter Fan of the week. Her sweet sister Starla contacted us and asked if we could make her a custom three piece bracelet with her all time favorite book Because of Winn Dixie. Here she is wearing it at work 🙂
What is your all time favorite children’s book and favorite novel?
My favorite children’s book growing up was Millions of Cats by Wanda Gag! My favorite novel was Old Yeller by Fred Gipson! But while in college Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo became one of my ALL time favorites!
What is one of your favorite memories of reading a book?
My favorite memories of reading as a child was when my mamaw would sit me up on her lap and share nursery rhymes with me. As I got a little older I recall the large claw-foot tub at school that we would crawl down into to lay and read during library class!
Where do you like to sit and read when you have some free time?
Most of the reading I do is at night before I fall asleep. Occasionally on a snow day I will curl up in my comfy chair and read!
On my days off I spend a lot of time outdoors. My favorite places to hang out are on the lake fishing or in the woods hunting! I love the outdoors, so when I’m not not working, I’m most likely outdoors challenging myself at some sort of recreational activity!
Why do you think books and story telling is so important and a key to building a life time of memories?
Books and storytelling are so important in many ways for both children and adults! First of all, books and reading are the key to learning! Books teach us how to smile, laugh, be creative and dream! They also teach us valuable morals and allow us to experience a variety of emotions! They are awesome teaching tools that enhance vocabulary skills and prepare us for life’s many challenges! Books and storytelling help us use our imaginations beyond belief and escape the harsh realities of everyday life!
